After a permanent back injury ended my library life, I began painting again. Call it art therapy or the best excuse to be creative, yet it helped me deal with mental and physical pain, a 5 year recovery.

In conjunction with our recent exhibition, Purposeful Visionaries: the Art of Della Wells, Evelyn Patricia Terry, Mutope Johnson and Muneer Bahauddeen, one of the artists conducted a clay tile making workshop with community members of the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts. Muneer Bahauddeen, is an experienced ceramic artist and workshop facilitator. Over two Saturdays, tile making methods were demonstrated and participants created their own unique artworks using their new skills. The tiles on display here are some of those produced during this workshop.

Artists Working in Education is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide youth in Milwaukee with arts enrichment programs that advance learning, enhance human potential, and cultivate community. Interns experimented with many new mediums throughout the summer guided by local Milwaukee artists. On display are fabric samples from Rosie Petry’s fabric manipulation workshops.
