Join us on Fridays at 3:00 pm on Riverwest Radio 104.1 during the Stay at Home Order.

In the third episode of Remote Resonance, Detroit-based multi-instrumentalist/composer/improviser Cyrus Pireh joins series host Eli Smith on-air for an interview and performance. The two discuss the genesis of Cyrus’s interest in experimental and improvised music, the highly physical and durational qualities of some of Cyrus’s work, and the social and ecological implications of recorded music. Cyrus’s set features two solo guitar pieces that are burning and propulsive, seeing the guitarist weaving rapid fingerpicking and beautifully open chord progressions to create music that sounds like the burning fire in your gut.

Each episode features musician’s performances and interviews. Styles vary widely, from experimental and improvised music, to hip-hop, to jazz and more.  Remote Resonance is a production of Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts in conjunction with Riverwest Radio, and is an effort by the venue to continue its programming in the wake of COVID-19 forcing the venue to temporarily close.
