Mission Statement for Community Events in Our Venue

THE MISSION OF THE JAZZ GALLERY CENTER FOR THE ARTS

Our goal is to foster reflective, innovative, and proactive art to enrich and stimulate our community.

STATEMENT OF FOCUS FOR INTERNAL COMMUNITY EVENTS

At the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts we present the arts in many forms and genres. Diverse events and programming have to coexist in our modestly sized space on East Center Street. This coexistence involves spatial issues as well as conceptual issues. The use of the gallery venue for community events aims to collaborate while respecting and accommodating both the visual and performing arts presented in our space. Events should be of a thoughtful and respectful nature, that will not endanger the artwork in the facility. Thus, we are generally not amenable to parties or celebrations where alcohol is in use. As a non-profit, we are also bound to present both sides in political elections. Generally, we are open to events of relevance to our community, meetings of local groups, educational forums and community discussions on issues of importance. Fundraisers for other groups will require a more lengthy approval process. For profit events will require a fee based on the nature of the event. Please keep in mind that we own our venue, thus have significant expenses while running a complex operation with mostly volunteers. This includes building cleaning and maintenance. All events are expected to clean up after themselves and behave in manner that positively reflects the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts.
