Join us on Fridays at 3:00 pm on Riverwest Radio 104.1 during the Stay at Home Order.

On the sixth episode of Remote Resonance, writer/performer Annie Grizzle joins series host Eli Smith on-air for a performance and interview/discussion. The two discuss Grizzle’s writing process, the possibilities that open up when exploring abstraction and the boundaries of conventional syntax, and her experiences collaborating with musicians. At the start of the show, Grizzle reads excerpts from her forthcoming manuscript, creating a linguistic world full of recurring symbols and surreal dialogues that unravel the seams of language. In the second half of the show, Grizzle and Smith collaborate on an improvised set of poetry and music, trading rhythmic and melodic phrases while exploring the spaces that open up at the convergence of their respective mediums.

Each episode features musician’s performances and interviews. Styles vary widely, from experimental and improvised music, to hip-hop, to jazz and more.  Remote Resonance is a production of Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts in conjunction with Riverwest Radio, and is an effort by the venue to continue its programming in the wake of COVID-19 forcing the venue to temporarily close.
