Join us on Fridays at 3:00 pm on Riverwest Radio 104.1 during the Stay at Home Order.

In the fourth episode of Remote Resonance, local vocalist/composer/improviser Xai Osa joins series host Eli Smith on air for an interview and performance. The two discuss Xai’s experience in the music composition & technology program at UW-Milwaukee, the impact that some of her professors have had on her development as a musician, and the projects that she explores outside of academia, including an experimental indie rock group and an early music ensemble. The first set of Xai’s performance features two improvisations using her voice and electronics, marked by slowly evolving textures and swirling loops of her voice and electronic sounds. The second set sees Eli joining Xai for an improvised duo set, as the two alternate between frenetic, energetic punctuations and contemplative, droning passages.

Each episode features musician’s performances and interviews. Styles vary widely, from experimental and improvised music, to hip-hop, to jazz and more.  Remote Resonance is a production of Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts in conjunction with Riverwest Radio, and is an effort by the venue to continue its programming in the wake of COVID-19 forcing the venue to temporarily close.
