We believe our community is strengthened by creativity.

In 1979, we came together as the Riverwest Artists Association to present the first ArtWalk. The artists that gave our neighborhood its distinct identity opened their studio doors and welcomed the public into our community. Nearly thirty years later, we purchased the former home of the historic Milwaukee Jazz Gallery, a nationally-renowned jazz club and transformed it into a dedicated space to create, present, and experience the arts.

We are now the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts and home for emerging visual, literary and performing artists as well as those who’ve been around the block a few times. Here we celebrate experimental efforts along with more traditional takes, and everything in between. We provide workshops and community through our older adults program, O.W. L. (Older. Wiser. Local) and continue our monthly art gallery exhibitions, music jam sessions, artist-lead events, programs and more.

Even though we’ve been doing this work for many years, there is still so much that still needs to be done. Now more than ever, our communities need the arts! So we are actively working to expand our reach and increase our capacity ……..
