Zack Baltich Music
As a percussionist and composer based in Minneapolis, Zack Baltich melds the obscure and the familiar. Inherently hands-on, percussive music offers a pallet of sounds so organic that the listener might reach out and touch the sound-waves. With this textural starting point he utilizes a variety of instruments, percussive and otherwise to create long-form, emotionally-driven music. This aesthetic comes from a simple artistic purpose: to connect with others in a way that inspires curiosity, satisfaction, and empathy. Whether this has been through collaborations with poets, or recording sound bouncing off of cave walls throughout Minnesota, he continues to find inspiration in the border between urban and rural settings. Zack’s self-produced projects have been supported by the American Composers Forum, Cedar Cultural Center, and Minnesota State Arts Board, and he has performed as a freelance percussionist with groups like Zeitgeist, Arena Dance, and St. Paul Vocal Forum.
