Chicago Experimental Noise Showcase feat. TV POW, Illusion of Safety, Jason Soliday, and Vertonen + Dan of Earth
Friday, October 24th @ 7:00pm
At the Jazz Gallery Center for the Arts - 926 East Center Street
TV POW
TV Pow is a trio of composers and free improvisers. They employ samplers, percussion, invented instruments, synthesizers, turntables, tape manipulation, computers and multi-speaker surround-sound systems in a constantly evolving soundscape of sparkling electronics, ambient drones, minimalist techno, and cinematic field recordings.

Illusion of Safety
Since 1983, Daniel Burke and his many conspirators under the Illusion Of Safety banner have over the course of 40+ full length releases traversed most every facet of the avant sound plane, from early industrial pop deconstruction to blindingly minimal sound art to densely surreal found-sound collage, each unique approach bending and reconstituting the expectations and possibilities of each realm, creating uneasy music that is dense and dystopian and yet also beautiful.

Jason Soliday
Soliday is an electronic musician. A member of neural goldberg, Cleav’d Cleaver, xTAL fSCK, LORD MUTE, and various ad-hoc ensembles too numerous to mention. He can usually be found traversing the boundaries between free improvisation, concrete composition, and aleatoric noise.
Vertonen+ Dan of Earth
For this show, Vertonen is collaborating with Dan of Earth to bring the Taos hum to Milwaukee. Electronic invocations that might channel the raw brutality of industrial machinery or the existential claustrophobia of a submariner's voyage nearing its untimely end. There are numerous aesthetic facets to the Vertonen oeuvre - scabrously harsh noise, zoned-out isolationism, roughly tactile cacophonics, polished smooth harmonics. Yet, much of the work is tied to a conceptual precision that informs if not agitates his sounds to act.
